It was first eaten by American soldiers and from then it got popularised in America. In 19 and 20th-century apple pie was declared a symbol of national prosperity and national pride. It is so famous that even a jingle was created by soldiers.

For Butter Pie Crust Dough

  • 2 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 6-7 tbsp ice water
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 2 sticks cold unsalted butter, diced into 1/4 pieces

For Apple Pie

  • 1 egg + 1 tbsp water, for egg wash
  • 6-7 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 1 double butter pie crust
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

For Butter Pie Crust

  1. In a food processor add, flour, sugar, and salt and pulse until properly mixed.
  2. Then add cold diced butter and pulse until coarse crumbs.
  3. After that, add ice water and pulse until small dough balls forms. Now pinch a piece of dough and if it sticks together it’s ready.
  4. Transfer it into a bowl and knead the dough. Divide it in half and make a disc from both.
  5. Lastly, cover it with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.

For Apple Pie

  1. Firstly, in a pan, add butter and melt, then add all-purpose flour and let it simmer for 1 minute. Whisk continuously.
  2. Secondly, add water and sugar and bring it to a boil. Turn the flame low and simmer it for 3 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  3. After the butter melts well with the other ingredients, turn off the flame.
  4. Now, in a mixing bowl, add sliced apples and cinnamon powder. Mix it well to coat the apples completely.
  5. Then, add the sauce that was prepared and mix it well.

Big Circle For Pie

  1. Now sprinkle some flour on the rolling board and place a pie crust and roll it into a big circle of 12-inch diameter circle with a rolling pin.
  2. Then, to transfer it into a pie plate, wrap it around the rolling pin completely and place it on the pie plate.
  3.  After that, unwrap it slowly into a pie plate, mold it gently, and let the dough hang over the edges.
  4. After that, transfer the coated apples and spread them evenly.
  5. Now take another pie crust and roll it with the same process, and cut ten even strips.
  6. Then take one of the long stripes from the center and place it across the middle of the pie. Place the first five stripes in one direction, with longer ones in the center and the shorter ones on the edges.

Designing The Apple Pie

  1. To design the apple pie, pull back the 2nd and 4th strip and place one large strip. Now pull back the alternative strips and add another strip.
  2. Continue doing it on the right and left sides for perfect lattice. Place remaining scrapes of the dough on the edges and tuck the excess pie dough into the pan around the edges.
  3. Once it is tucked completely, and then crimp the edges of the pie dough to make it look presentable.
  4. Now grease it with egg wash and place it inside preheated oven and bake it at 425*C for 15 minutes.
  5. After that, reduce the temperature to 350*C and bake it again for 45 minutes until the apples are soft.
  6. Lastly, take the apple pie out and let it rest for 1 hour so that the apple juice thickens.
